Lucy Wisdom and S.O.S.
Dear friends, it is with great sadness that I must report that my lovely friend LUCY WISDOM passed away peacefully just before Christmas. She had been battling cancer for more than 16 years and burned more brightly and achieved more than most do in 3 score and ten years. We shall all miss her deeply. She was at home, in control and lucid until the very end, and passed over into the Summerlands surrounded by close friends and family who toasted her with pink champagne. Her funeral, a fluffy pink celebration of her life, was in Epping Woodland Park with a ‘hearse’ created by the Mutoid Waste Company, a troupe of Eco-performers with whom Lucy had worked for many years. A fitting end for a Pink Warrior Princess!
Lucy was the founder of S.O.S., the Sumatran Orangutan Society, a charity which SuSuMaMa has supported over the years, our connection going back to our formative days in Bali together. S.O.S. works to stop the destruction of the orangutan’s habitat. The forests in Sumatra have dwindled over the years and this is a micro-cosim of what we are doing to the rest of the planet. Sumatran Orangutan numbers are down to around just 6,000 individuals. We share 98% of the same DNA as these great apes, and what we are doing to them and their environment, we are doing to ourselves.
You can find out all about the work S.O.S. does and support them by following this link to their website:

SuSuMaMa will be fund raising for S.O.S. upon our return from our buying trip in the Himalayas in early February. Watch this space!
